Solar Electrician – MCS Nominated Technical Person

Hours: Monday to Friday
Pay: £300 – £350 per day depending on experience

Our client is expanding and is seeking an MCS qualified Senior Electrician to join them as their sole subcontract installer, working exclusively alongside a Roofer to deliver every Solar PV, BESS and EV Charger installation in-house. This is a subcontract role, but it is exclusive to our client – they are moving away from using multiple subcontractors and need someone who can commit fully to them as their sole installer and named MCS Nominated Technical Person (NTP).
This is a long-term opportunity offering consistent work, strong earning potential, and clear progression within a well-established, fully accredited renewable energy organisation. Client will also take on a Solar Roofer if you have a partner you usually work with.
The role involves the installation, testing, and commissioning of Solar PV systems, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), and EV charging points across domestic and commercial properties. Main battery brand you will work with is FOX.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Carrying out full electrical installations for solar energy systems (AC/DC side)
- Installing and commissioning battery storage systems (BESS)
- Installing and configuring EV chargers
- Completing electrical testing, fault finding, and full system commissioning
- Accurately completing all job documentation, certification, and compliance paperwork
- Working professionally within occupied residential properties
- Maintaining high standards of workmanship, presentation, and customer care
- Adhering to all company health & safety procedures and site regulations
- Acting as our client’s named MCS Nominated Technical Person (NTP), taking full responsibility for certifying and signing off all installations under their MCS accreditation
- Working as one of our client’s two sole installers, alongside their in-house Roofer, with every installation carried out in-house rather than through multiple subcontractors
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
- BS 7671 – 18th Edition (Current Wiring Regulations)
- City & Guilds 2391-24 – Inspection & Testing
- Level 3 NVQ / Diploma: An NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation
- City & Guilds 2921-34 – Level 3 Award in Electric Vehicle Charging
- City & Guilds 2922-34 – Level 3 Award in Solar Photovoltaic Systems
- City & Guilds 2923-34 – Level 3 Award in Electrical Energy Storage Systems (BESS)
- Experience installing BESS and EV charging systems
- Full UK Driving Licence
- Own Tools and vehicle
- Strong knowledge of BS7671 and MCS standards
- MCS accreditation – or the qualifications and experience required to gain this promptly – with the ability to act as our client’s Nominated Technical Person (NTP)
- Not currently acting as Nominated Technical Person (NTP) for any other MCS-certified company, as this role requires sole NTP status with our client
