Senior Car Mechanic / Workshop Manager

Hours: Monday to Friday, (40 hours per week)
Salary: £40,000–£50,000 per annum (DOE) + bonus potential

We are working exclusively with a highly reputable MOT & Service Garage in Knutsford. They are seeking a skilled professional to play a pivotal role in the day-to-day running of their garage. About the Role
You will lead by example on the workshop floor, combining technical excellence with strong organisational skills. While hands-on mechanical work will be part of the job, you’ll also take responsibility for workflow management, quality assurance, and maintaining the high standards the garage is known for.
They do also have an opening for a Mechanic should you not want Workshop Management responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, support, and mentor technicians to ensure smooth workshop operations
- Perform diagnostic tests and identify complex mechanical issues
- Oversee routine servicing, repairs, and MOT preparation
- Carry out mechanical work to a high standard, including part replacements and safety checks
- Maintain accurate job records and ensure compliance with MOT and safety regulations
- Liaise confidently with customers, providing clear explanations and excellent service
- Uphold workshop efficiency, organisation, and Health & Safety compliance
- Conduct MOT tests (if MOT-qualified)
Experience & Skills Required
- Proven experience as a Senior Mechanic, Technician, or Workshop Manager
- Strong diagnostic, mechanical, electrical, and electronic knowledge
- MOT Tester qualification preferred but not essential
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure
- Valid driver’s licence
- Relevant automotive qualifications or certifications desirable
