Employment Type: Contract, Full-time – Outside IR35

Duraction: Ongoing, minimum likely to be 6 months

Location: Luton

Hours: 8.30 – 4.30 Monday to Thursday, 8.30 – 4.00 Friday (37 Hours per week)

Pay: £24.00 – £30.00 per hour (depending on experience) LTD Company rate, Umbrella solution also available.

My client is currently recruiting for a Mechanical Vehicle Technician to join their organisation on a permanent basis at their site in Luton. The role will involve you working on a various different types of equipment and you will be working as part of a well-established team.

Responsibilities:

  • Inspect, Service and Maintain a varied vehicle and plant fleet equipment including:
    • Cars and vans
    • Buses
    • Utility vehicles
    • Small Tractors
    • Strimmer’s
    • Road Sweepers
  • Diagnose faults and repairs relating to all vehicles and plant including what is necessary to pass MOT/VOSA tests and provide condition and maintenance reports orally and in writing.
  • Identify and report all potential faults or non-compliance effecting operational and roadworthy capabilities, then notify supervision accordingly.
  • Completing computerised work orders utilising QFM Fleet Management System and manual systems as applicable.
  • Conducting off-site inspections, roadside assistance, and recovery of defective or damaged vehicles, using suitable equipment, whilst using own initiative when required.
  • Escorting third parties where applicable allocated to assist in all aspects of vehicle maintenance related to a programme of work or delivery of vehicles, equipment, or products.

Skills Required:

  • An NVQ Level 2 in an Engineering related course is the minimum requirement (other equivalent qualifications will be considered)
  • Be able to read and interpret vehicle/plant technical drawings.
  • A HGV, LGV or PCV driving licence is desirable but not essential.
  • Good knowledge of Health and Safety and Environmental Legislation
  • An understanding of vehicle computerised diagnostic systems.
  • A full and current UK Driving Licence.
  • DBS check will be completed for the successful applicant.
