
Lead Electrical Design Engineer (Energy)

Salary: up to £65,000 circa p.a depending on experience. + company benefits
Due to continued growth and further contract wins, my client is currently recruiting for an Electrical Design Engineer to join their business on a permanent basis.
My client is an engineering consultancy business, utilising renewable technologies to help their clients achieve carbon reductions through efficient district heating systems.
The Role
Working on large-scale projects from concept through to completion, the Electrical Design Engineer will have the following responsibilities:
- Generate data, calculations and reports for various projects including heat pump systems as well as domestic and commercial heating systems.
- Develop electrical schematics, layout drawings, and plans for both underground and overground cable routing.
- Coordinate and communicate with Distribution Network Operators (DNOs) and Independent Distribution Network Operators (IDNOs).
- Conducting site surveys and report findings to clients.
- Undertake site and technology assessments.
- Project management responsibilities.
- Energy analysis and modelling.
Experience/ Skills Required
- Educated to degree level in Electrical Engineering.
- Progressing towards becoming a Chartered Engineer (CEng) with Chartered Institute of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE), institute of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) or Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET) or similar is preferred.
- Substantial experience of domestic or commercial heating systems. Experience of district heating or communal heating projects along with Solar PV/Battery storage and CHP/grid parallel connections would be beneficial, although not essential.
- Experience of renewable/ low carbon technologies such as ground source heat pumps and air source heat pumps would be beneficial, although not essential.
- Proficient with AutoCAD.
- Knowledge of Revit would be beneficial.
- Experience of energy/ engineering analysis or modelling.
