Consultant Ecologist
Employment Type: Permanent, Full-time
Location: Nottingham
Hours: 8.30am – 5pm, Monday to Friday. There is flexibility on the working hours. Hybrid working may also be available.
Salary: £35,000 – £40,000 per annum, dependent on experience
Company/Position:
My client is a Chartered multi-disciplinary consultancy that specialise in providing environmental assessments, sustainability and energy consultancy services to the construction industry. They work on a wide range of projects, offering expertise in areas such as BREEAM, Code for Sustainable Homes, and energy performance certificates. Their services aim to help clients achieve their sustainability goals and comply with environmental regulations. Due to high demand for ecology services they are looking for an Ecologist to join the team.
Responsibilities:
- Conducting desktop research and GIS mapping.
- Taking charge of, organising, and overseeing field surveys, as well as analysing and interpreting the survey findings.
- Supervising field activities conducted by others, including resource management (staff, vehicles, equipment, third-party data, contractors).
- Completing reports for Preliminary Ecological Assessments and Ecological Impact Assessments.
- Offering ecological expertise for BREEAM and Code for Sustainable Homes evaluations.
- Drafting applications for protected species licenses and overseeing the licensing process from start to finish.
Skills Required:
- Previous Ecology experience, preferably in a consultancy environment.
- Gained one or more Natural England Protected Species Licences.
- Be willing to attend sites and undertake field work within the UK. Occasional nights away are required.
- Obtained a degree in a relevant subject.
- Experience with BNG conditions assessments, UK Habitats assessments and protected species surveys.
- Have a full UK Driving Licence.
